Dr. Mars received her BA in Classics and Philosophy from Northwestern University in 2010 and her PhD in Classics from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016. Her research focuses on ancient Greek aesthetics (especially in Greek lyric and tragedy) as well as on theories of perception and cognition in ancient thought. Her first book is entitled Materiality and Aesthetics in Archaic and Classical Greek Poetry and is forthcoming with Edinburgh University Press. In her spare time she enjoys going on adventures with her standard poodle Alfie and Zeno, reading contemporary novels and short fiction, and, of course, binge-watching Netflix.
