Alum Receives Fellowship Funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities
The National Endowment for the Humanities announced awards announced last week. Sinclair Bell (’95 Classical Studies Major, History Major), Professor at Northern Illinois University, has received fellowship funding for research and preparation of a book on the representation of Africans in ancient Roman art. His project is titled: Race and Representation in the Roman Empire: Images of Aethiopians in Imperial Visual and Material Culture. Melissa Mueller of Massachusetts Amherst, who previously spoke at Wake Forest University as a guest speaker for the Classics Department in November 2019, also received funding.
